Announcing Siren Art Wall Artist

Gucci and Design Core Detroit are excited to announce Onzie Deandre Norman as the next artist selected to debut a mural on the side of the Siren Hotel located at 1509 Broadway St. The mural is in celebration of Gucci’s one year anniversary in Detroit and will be revealed during the 13th annual Detroit Month Design.

Onzie is a self-taught mixed media painter and wood sculptor from Detroit. After a vision in 2013, he began to draw. This led to him experimenting with painting on wood. Onzie constructs his canvases out of various types of lumber and uses acrylic, enamel, spray paint, paper and resin to create one-of-a-kind artworks.

Onzie has worked diligently towards building his art career. His work has been exhibited at Art Prize, the Bombay Artesian Series, Essence Festival, Charles H. Wright Museum, Actors Theater in Louisville, National Afro-American Museum in Wilberforce, Museum of Science and Industry Chicago, Agora Gallery in New York, Xavier University and The Dayton Art Institute. Onzie’s artwork is in many private collections and recently his work has been acquired by President of the College for Creative Studies, Don Tuski; actor, Charles Michael Davis; NFL linebacker, Deandre Levy; President of Spelman College, Helene Gayle; and American journalist, Stephen Henderson.
